"Yoga has helped me and continues to help me through different moments of my life"

Meet @victoriadepedro_arte

Sharing her #yogasavedmylife story with us. These are her words (in English & Spanish in comments) ❤

.

.

"Ever since I was a girl I have danced, linking the body, movement and expression together and I've always been fascinated by how ethereal a body can be

.

.

Seven years ago, I began to practice Hahta Yoga, I began to understand more about the importance of breathing, how certain asanas made my body calm, balanced. But about 5 years ago there came a time when I needed another style of Yoga, other challenges, and that was when I became involved with Ashtanga Yoga. I am a visual artist and as such I tend to be highly sensitive, Yoga gives me balance, order, perseverance. I practice daily, but if there are days that I cant do yoga, my body feels it: my body needs that experience unique to yoga, which is an encounter with oneself, to be present in the moment

.

.

Yoga saved me in 2016: a hard emotional year, where I had to face myself, to tear down structures and behaviors that were deeply ingrained internally, which generated a lot of anxiety, worry and anguish

.

.

Yoga inevitably helped me to continue, mainly to calm down, to try to find my balance again, my "axis". They were months of a lot of emotional disorder and having had that experience, my Yoga space was fundamental to keep me on my path

.

.

I am grateful every day to have discovered this practice that, whether I am reclining on my mat or performing an asana or doing a sun salutation - or even something as simple and as complex as being aware of my breathe - I understand that in yoga there is a beautiful way to be at one with the Universe

.

Namaste, Victoria ❤🙏"
