Meet @this_dog_is_downsharing her #yogasavedmylife story with us. These are her words 💚

"I couldn’t describe the root of my mental illness, and therefore, I didn’t know how to deal with it. It’s been a bumpy road dealing with it. From trying medications, to therapy, to throwing myself into work hoping I’d forget about it, nothing brought me closer to coping" . "Eventually, when I went off to college and left my career as a competitive swimmer behind, I wanted a new form of exercise to keep me healthy. I remembered my therapist telling me I should try yoga, so I did. I found a YouTube channel with free classes and tried to do one a day. After my first practice, I knew yoga had potential to teach me how to breathe and connect with myself. Since then, I established a firm daily practice that has helped bring me back to my center and my breathe . Yoga is so much more than the asana for me. It is a chance to connect with my body, my emotions, and my thoughts. It has brought me to a deeper understanding of self, and an awareness of my emotional state I never thought achievable. Anxiety and depression had always kept any of this from me . Yoga has taught me how to look inside myself and find the calm.”
