Meet Sarah @sarahml16 Med student on weekdays, Yoga teacher on week-ends, & devout yogini 24/7

"I had a difficult childhood, I suffered from PTSD & developed generalized anxiety disorder... all of which I was able & I still am able to manage with the help of a yogic lifestyle

I can't really put into words how much yoga has changed me as a person. But what I can tell you is that I'm the happiest talking about yoga, writing about yoga or sharing my passion for yoga with someone else. My eyes light up, my heart fills up with excitement, & I feel alive

.

.

I discovered the world of spirituality & Yoga more than 6 years ago, when I first watched Eat Pray Love. Seeing Liz chanting & meditating in half lotus was love at first sight

.

.

I decided I wanted to start practicing Yoga, but with no teacher available to me here in Morocco or Arabic content readily available, I had to make do.....so would lay a blanket on the floor, light candles, then roll & play around like a two-year- old, thinking I was doing Yoga. But then I gradually started reading books, watching videos & devouring any kind of content with the word Yoga in it. If it weren’t for the free content available on the internet I would still be floundering on that blanket

.

.

I eventually decided to do my YTT, to help anyone in my situation. I vowed to make yoga available to others, just like me, in Morocco who maybe couldn't speak English or afford huge amounts of money on fancy studios or retreats

.

.

Between the high expectations, taming my ego & comparing myself to other Yoga teachers, it’s easy to get lost in the Yoga business & lose touch with what got me to become a Yoga teacher in the first place. I set my intention to stay true to

.

.

I've been able to combine yoga with my work in the medical profession & have presented a paper to physiotherapists & oncologists, highlighting how yoga can improve the quality of life for cancer patients who may simultaneously suffer from fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, depression, nausea & vomiting

.

.

I'm able to try & save the lives of others, while yoga saves mine. Yoga gives me meaning, it gives me a purpose. It gives me a home, a community I belong to ❤
