Meet @lucyvictoriajacksonyoga Vinyasa & Yin Yoga teacher

"My students often tell me that I bring love & life to my classes and I strongly believe that this is because I've coped with mental illness & found yoga in my darkest hours" Meet @lucyvictoriajacksonyoga Vinyasa & Yin Yoga teacher sharing her #yogasavedmylife story with us. These are her words 🙏

"Depression,  anxiety & self harming hit me when I was 13 & by the time I was 18 my sense of self worth was so low that I found myself in an emotionally abusive relationship. He took his problems out on me & a combination of my poor mental health, his controlling behaviour &  substance abuse left me in a bad place for 5 years

Fast forward to today, 27 years old & I'm 4 years clear of my last bout of depression. I haven't self harmed in a long time & my anxiety is under control (Unless I'm on the London underground 😂) I'm now very happy working as a full time yoga teacher & in a very healthy, loving relationship.  My life could not be more different to 3 years ago

I credit this turnaround to the healing power of yoga. I dabbled in it at Uni, but when I moved to London I truly began to understand the transformative effects of regular practice.  The teacher or style was irrelevant : I enjoyed spending time with myself & it enabled me to realize I wasn't the awful person my ex tried to convince me I was. My mind had been twisted, but through moving, breathing, being in the moment, I found my true self. Yoga showed me I could love & be loved. Be in control of my life choices Yoga gave me the courage to leave that relationship &  in Jan 2015 I spent 7 weeks in India on my YTT where I fell deeper in love with yoga & with myself For the first time I was in a good place. Thanks to yoga, that's where I've stayed ever since đŸ™â€ www.lucyvictoriajackson.com . .
