"The more spiritual side of yoga, way before I started to practice asana, helped me make sense of my pretty terrible marriage. I now recognise that I was in an emotionally, psychologically & financially abusive relationship"
.
"I lived in a rural area & didn’t think asana was for me, mainly as I hadn’t tried it due to lack of availability of classes. Towards the end of the marriage I prolapsed 2 discs in my spine, which took years to be diagnosed
.
My best friend & soul sister had just completed her YTT & provided me with some asana to help soothe my discomfort. From there I developed my own practice, using YouTube to learn slowly what my body could do. I finally had surgery on my back in April 2016 to sort the prolapse out & used my practice as rehab
.
.
I slowly regained my strength & my confidence, both mentally & physically. I moved to Birmingham soon after with my wonderful boyfriend who encouraged me to complete my own teacher training. It took a long time to get over the ‘I’m not good enough’ & the ‘I don’t look like a yoga teacher’ thoughts but I found the wonderful Yog Sundari @yogsundari who guided & led me through a beautiful, all encompassing YTT in Akhanda Yoga
.
I now teach part time this beautiful holistic hatha practice & am learning to work through the issues I still face mentally after surviving relationship abuse. I’m passionate about honouring others who are stressed or strung out and am stepping into my feminine power, one step and one Hari Om at a time! .
Yoga saved me, & by this I mean the full 8 limbs. I believe in honouring & body, letting go of ego & being completely & unapologetically yourself💚
.
Om Shanti sisters 🙏
