"As a child I was raised with the principles of Christians & the idea of sin was almost always connected with the body"
.
Meet @faye_balomenou sharing her #yogasavedmylife story with us. These are her words 💚
.
"For my parents an academic career and a family were the goal of my existence, the meaning of my life. I always felt that something was missing. Studying, meeting friends, going shopping, travelling, working as a teacher and living a life that didn’t actually evolve my body was a superficial life for me
.
I desperately needed something that could unite my thirst for physical progress and deal with my mental chaos and the everyday ups and downs of my emotions
.
I tried several kinds of dance knowing I would never be able to become a professional dancer due to my age. Therefore, I lived a conventional lifestyle until the age of 28 when I suddenly lost my beloved grandfather This loss changed everything. I was completely devastated and lost
.
I had to find something really powerful to recover from the feeling of pain, depression and emptiness
.
I accidently dropped in to a yoga class. I started practicing yoga 5 times per week. I quit dance, I travelled to India alone and then quit my conventional job as a teacher
.
After practicing yoga for over 10 years , I can feel the progress in every aspect of my life and I want to share this amazing change that has happened to me.
People are afraid of their true nature. Imagine you are a dolphin, free to live as your needs guide you. A dolphin sleeps in each of us.
After lots of struggles I liberated my dolphin and wanted to help others liberate theirs.
After many years, I can feel my breath uniting my body, my mind , my soul
.
I consider femininity as a gift and a blessing, not a sin.
Everything connects and everything matters.
Nature and my body are my home. They share the same essence.
I can move freely and at the same time direct my thoughts and observe my feelings without getting attached to them
.
Yoga has given me a different way of living.
A liberating , uplifting and never ending journey inwards.
My yoga mat is my happy land
.
Namaste, Faye 🙏
