Meet Brittany @brittamberjohnson sharing her #yogasavedmylife story with us. These are her words 💚

"One morning, I was getting ready for the day when all of the sudden this excruciating pain hit me in my stomach-- it was so bad I literally dropped to the floor & couldn't stand"

"My sister ran and got my mom who then drove me to the ER (thinking it was appendicitis). After what felt like hours of tests the doctor came in and told me everything was showing up clear + fine

.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Over the next few weeks I would go on to get an endoscopy, biopsy + see a neurologist. Again, all the tests came back fine but I was still getting these intense pains in my stomach. The neurologist diagnosed me with "stress induced abdominal migraines". Basically when I got stressed, instead of a regular migraine in my head I was experiencing them in my stomach. So she put me on medication that I took daily in order to help control my anxiety + depression

.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

After a while, I felt like the medication was helping, but I just didn't want to be on medication every single day for the rest of my life. She didn't seem to have a plan other than just use it til it didn't work anymore... I wasn't a fan.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So I decided to go to a more intensive form of therapy + see a therapist who used a combination of eastern and western medicinal techniques. This changed. my. life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I began going to yoga classes, sound baths, meditation experiences & speaking to her every week (at one point every day). And with all of that support around me, I began to slowly come off of the medication the neurologist prescribed me and replace it with more holistic approaches

And I never went back!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

NOW. All this is not to say that you should ignore the advice of doctors or cut off your meds cold turkey 🙅🏽‍♀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What I'm saying is that there are both holistic ways to treat problems alongside "modern medicine" and it's worth exploring 💚
