Meet Bri @strengthandspoons sharing her #yogasavedmylife story with us. These are her words 💚
.
.
"It all happened so quickly for me. One day I was playing competitive soccer, training for a half marathon, and enjoying the strength of my body. Then it all quickly deteriorated and it was all I could do to get out of bed and make it to work
.
.
I lost friends, I alienated myself, and I cried myself to sleep. At 23, Arthritis, Hashimoto's disease....I was too young, too active for this and it devastated me. I saw all my physical and professional goals melting in front of me. I’ve never felt so out of control in my life. How would I ever be able to run a half marathon now? Or even work a 12 hour shift on my feet? .
That’s when I found yoga. I will never forget my first class. I found a local studio and I signed up for 6 months of classes. The first class was hard. I got in my car and cried all the way home from the pain. I could barely touch my toes and I could barely hold myself up in down dog
.
But guess what? I kept going. Not just for the physical healing but the mental as well. I dealt with my demons. My illness
.
.
I realized I am more than this illness and I can heal and become the person I’ve always wanted to be. For that, I thank yoga. Yoga is what made me realize my self worth, my strength, and who I’m supposed to be. I found myself 🙏 Bri"
