"I found yoga at a time when I was putting the pieces of my life back together"

Meet @jessica_kish_ sharing her #yogasavedmylife story with us. These are her words 📷

.

.

"Insert all the life problems/crises you can think of — personal, family, career, financial, spiritual — and I was pretty much drowning in all of them

.

After getting my master’s degree and working for a few years as a therapist I became burnt out and ultimately decided that was no longer the career path for me.  A decision I feel a degree of shame and guilt about to this day

.

But truth be told the problems began way before I quit my job.  I had stopped being honest with myself about who I really was, or who knows maybe I didn’t even know who I really was.  I got so consumed with achievement - going to a great school, having a great job, checking off the boxes in life that I completely lost myself

.

Throw in some borderline substance abuse issues, and major family drama and the whole thing self imploded.  There’s a whole other chapter in my story that involves, let’s just say family...stuff.  But that’s a story for another day

.  So after years and years of being on the wrong path I finally said, enough.  At that point I began to reclaim my life.  Fast forward a couple of years, I found yoga,  roughly a year and a half ago, age 33. Everything changed. I can’t help but wonder how my life path might be altered had I found yoga at an earlier age.  How I might have dealt with some of my anxiety and depression had I known about it when I was 5, 10, 15? I was changed by a practice that is so much more than physical asana.  A practice that is every bit as much spiritual as physical, and that will connect you to the deepest parts of yourself if you’ll allow it 📷 Jessica "
