Meet @shakti.la sharing her #yogasavedmylife story with us. These are her words 💚

"Growing up without my parents around, I had to figure things out on my own at a very young age. So young & immature, I didn’t always make the best decisions in life & ended up pregnant at 16
.
Traumatized by the whole experience, I promised myself that I'd work hard to accomplish my dreams, not let anyone or anything stop me no matter how hard it got. Being a teenage mom was the hardest but most rewarding lesson God has given me. It made me strive to be a better person not only for myself but also for my daughter. Fast forward 10 years after having her, married & starting out in a very competitive world in the fashion industry - the career I put myself in school for & chose to pursue; I just had my 2nd baby & was trying hard to be the perfect preachers wife, starting out at a church I knew in my heart we weren’t ready for: I had my first break down
.
I started getting anxiety attacks. This terrified me for I had no control of when they came & no idea how to stop them. Being my stubborn self, I refused to take muscle relaxant pills my doctor prescribed
.
Instead, I asked if there was anything else I could do & he recommended yoga
.
In 2014 I enrolled myself in my first class & almost instantly felt a transformation from within. Not only has my stress management improved, I haven’t had any attacks since. My spiritual path has also improved by meditating. I am now able to discern what message my Heavenly Father has for me. Even if it’s through life lessons I’m not always ready for, such as going through a divorce
.
As painful as that whole experience was, yoga has helped me cope by calming my mind & spirit. It has also deepened my relationship with Christ because now I am able to quiet my mind & listen to Him .
I am passionate about sharing my practice Aware that I am nowhere near perfect, still working on my many flaws, I am determined to complete a YTT program so that I may be able to teach correctly & help empower others by finding peace, balance & calm in their own storms through the practice of yoga 🙏"
