Meet Jen @yogaholic_girl sharing her #yogasavedmylife story with us. These are her words 💚
.
"I was living the American Dream - the house, the guy, the job - then my father fell ill very quickly to cancer. The month that I had left with him was spent in the hospital after work until late hours of the night, talking, playing cards and sometimes just watching him sleep
.
It was difficult to watch, he was always so energetic and alive! He could talk anyone’s ears off! We said our last goodbyes in May of 2016
.
In June of 2016 I went through a separation that soon led to a divorce. This was a man that was very driven work wise but had a bigger relationship with alcohol
.
The verbal abuse and fighting caused way too many riffs in our marriage, and I had to get out! .
My best friend suggested we try yoga
.
She had just suffered the loss of her brother, and it was helping her with grief and the struggles that came from losing a loved one. I immediately fell in love with this practice. Even though, at the time, I had NO idea the impact it would have on me and my life! I signed up after just one class and going 2/3 times a week turned into everyday!
.
Yoga was this magical hour where I could breathe, check in, accomplish that alone time and become stronger (mind and body)!
.
After about a month I knew I had to sign up for teacher training. I felt that if I could teach this amazing practice and make just ONE person feel the things I felt, especially while going through so much at once, than I have done my job!
.
Yoga saved me in a very difficult time. It got me through these major life struggles, and still gets me through the smaller ones, with grace and mindfulness. I believe that the people I’ve met through this practice have been angels sent to me from my dad! Positive people who are so inspiring and uplifting when you need them the most! I really don’t know where I would be without my yoga practice! Jen 💚🙏"
